Wesley Earl Decker, a cherished member of the Horse Branch, Kentucky community, peacefully departed this life on August 7, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on February 22, 1942, in Yeaman, Kentucky, he was a beloved son of the late Elmer and Emma Lou Decker. Wesley's life was a testament to hard work, love, and dedication, traits that defined his journey from a humble upbringing to a devoted family man.
Wesley spent much of his career as a factory worker at General Electric, where he was known for his unwavering commitment and nurturing spirit. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he served his country as a member of the Army from July 15, 1964, to April 20, 1966, attaining the rank of Specialist 4. This dedication mirrored the love he had for his family, where he took immense joy in nurturing his wife, Linda M. Hedrick Decker, and guiding his two sons, Wayne and Dennis Bowen.
Wesley will be fondly remembered for his love of the land and the simple pleasures found on his farm. Nature was his sanctuary, a place where he cultivated not only crops but a legacy of love and hard work that will be carried on by his family. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his sons, Wayne and Dennis; his sister, Frieda Bonomini; as well as nieces, Jolene Newman and Kristen Steiner, and nephew, Donald Robert Wesley Bonomini. He also leaves behind two adoring great-nephews, Blake and Brian Newman, who will remember him for his warm heart and gentle spirit.
Wesley was preceded in death by his devoted parents, who instilled in him the values that shaped the man he became. As we reflect on his life, we remember not only the man who worked tirelessly but also the loving husband, father, brother, and friend whose spirit will forever resonate in our hearts.
Funeral services will be held in his honor on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Caneyville Funeral Home, with Bro. John Daugherty officiating. Visitation will take place on Saturday, August 9, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Sunday from 9:00 AM until the time of service, allowing family and friends to come together to celebrate Wesley's life and share their memories.
In this time of sorrow, we invite all who knew Wesley to join us in remembrance and to reflect on the indelible mark he left on all our lives. Condolences can be expressed below.
