Lavern Mudd, a beloved matriarch and friend, will be remembered dear to many hearts after her passing on August 4, 2026, at Grayson Nursing & Rehab in Leitchfield. Born on September 9, 1937, in Caneyville, Lavern lived a full and spirited life, shining brightly as a mother, grandmother, and friend to those fortunate enough to know her.
Lavern's journey began in the small town of Caneyville, where she grew up surrounded by the warmth of her family, including her late parents, Randall and Gracie Minton Raymer. Throughout her life, she showcased her creative talents as a seamstress at Phar-Shar, a role that brought her joy and purpose. Beyond her work, Lavern loved to play bingo and was often found enjoying the melodies of her son, Tony, as well as cheering passionately for her beloved University of Kentucky basketball team.
Her greatest pride lay in her family. Left to cherish her memory are her four grandchildren: Jeremiah Williams, Nick Ramsey, Carolyn Williams, and Bailey Rankin. She also held a special place in her heart for close family friends Janet Gobin and David Rankin, who will remember her fondly.
Lavern was preceded in death by her husband, Hayden Mudd, her two sons, Randall and Tony Mudd, and one grandson, Tommy Williams, who await her in the embrace of eternal peace.
In honoring Lavern's life, a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Caneyville Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation from 10:00 AM until the service, allowing a time to share stories and celebrate her vibrant spirit. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Layman Memorial Gardens, a place where her memory can be cherished by all who knew her.
We encourage those who knew Lavern to come together to reminisce, laugh, and reflect on the wonderful moments she shared with us. Online condolences can be shared at www.caneyvillefh.com. Let us honor Lavern with love and gratitude for the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
