Joe Mitchell Crain, 79, of Caneyville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Joe was the beloved husband of Linda Bryant Crain, and together they shared a marriage filled with love, family, laughter, and lasting memories.
Joe was a believer in Jesus Christ and publicly expressed his faith through baptism on October 18, 2016, at the Yeaman Church of Christ.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Joe Forest Crain and Doris Embry Crain Dailey, two brothers Cliff Crain and Dennis Dailey, one sister Dottie Dailey and one son, James Crain.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Linda Bryant Crain, two brothers J.B. Crain and Jerry Crain, two sisters Charlotte Costello and Linda Sue Dailey, his son, Robert Crain; his daughter, Jessie Viles; and his stepsons, Billy Bryant , Brad Bryant, and Scotty Bryant . He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren who brought him great pride and happiness, and many family and friends that he held dear.
Joe spent his life as a hardworking truck driver, dedicating many years to the road and taking pride in providing for those he loved. Known for his perseverance, steady presence, and strong work ethic, Joe made many friends along the way and built a life centered on helping others.
Joe will be remembered as a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and found joy in the people around him. His family will carry forward not only his example and values, but also the memories of laughter, shared stories, and joyful moments that filled their time together. Surrounded by those who loved him in his final moments, Joe leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, strength, and memories that will continue to bring comfort for years to come.
A Celebration of Life and graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at the Frank and Embry Cemetery in Caneyville, Kentucky, with Charles Lacefield officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Joe’s life, and celebrate the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.
