“Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed, and always dear.”
Our beloved Freda Kaye Broadfoot left this world on October 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of her husband. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Freda lived a life full of laughter, compassion, and quiet strength. She was the heart of our family — the one you could turn to for comfort and for love that never wavered.
Freda shared 45 beautiful years with her husband and best friend, George Broadfoot. The two of them built a life together filled with love, laughter, and devotion — a partnership grounded in love that grew stronger with every passing year. To George, she was not just a wife but a true companion, the steady center of their home and the keeper of their family’s heart.
She was a loving mother to her son and daughter George “Andy” Broadfoot and Leslie Broadfoot, and her love for them knew no bounds. Freda was the kind of mom who could make a bad day better with a few soft words, and who loved with her whole heart.
Her three grandchildren and all the nieces and nephews brought her endless joy. They were her sunshine — she loved watching them grow, hearing their stories, and spoiling them just enough to make them giggle. She was “Nana or Aunt Freda,” the one with the best hugs, the warmest smile, and the biggest heart.
Freda is also survived by her sister Michelle Brown, her father-in-law George Broadfoot, her sisters-in-law Wendy Tyson (Bill) and Aimee Wilson (Joe), Debby Delong, her brother-in-law Chuck Broadfoot (Marie), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who adored her and will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bernie & Ella Brown, Her mother in law Mary Broadfoot, her brother Rob Woolen, her brother in law Donald Wilkerson and her two sisters, Pat Hardison and Mary Lou Barnett, who now welcome her into heaven with open arms.
Freda’s life was defined by love — love for her family, for her friends, and for anyone lucky enough to cross her path. She had a gift for making people feel special, for listening without judgment, and for finding laughter even in life’s hardest moments. She was the one who made sure everyone was taken care of before herself.
Our hearts are broken, but we know her love will never leave us. It lives on in her children and grandchildren, in the stories we tell, and in the countless lives she touched.
A celebration of Freda’s beautiful life will be held at Caneyville Funeral Home at 201 E Maple St on Monday October 27th at 1pm CST officiated by her brother in law Joe Wilson. A time where family and friends will come together to share memories, laughter, and love — just the way she would want.
