It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clara B. Jones, age 85, who left this world peacefully on December 26, 2025, in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Clara was born on August 7, 1940, in the small town of Caneyville, KY, to the late Lambert Thomas and Elizabeth Embry Duke.
Clara was the epitome of love and devotion. As a housewife and homemaker, she dedicated her life to nurturing her family-raising her children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren with the utmost care and kindness. Her home was always a place of warmth, laughter, and the delightful smell of her cooking. An avid fisherman, Clara enjoyed spending her free time by the water, where she found peace and joy, surrounded by the beauty of nature.
Clara leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly: her children, Alice Olson, Rita Burkel, Lisa Carroll, Elizabeth Embry, Wesley Basham, and Sammy Newton. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Mary Harmon, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who cherished her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband, Rev. Richard Virgil Jones, two sons, Darrel Thomas Basham and Bobby Wayne Basham, and her sisters, Zelda Embry, Reva Jo Webb,Von Embry, Karen Kay Duke, Kathy Newton, Inez Hampton and one brother, Leslie Duke. Clara's spirit will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Caneyville Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, with Bro. Stevie Embry officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation starting at 10:00 AM until the service time. Clara will be laid to rest in Duke-Embry Cemetery, a final resting place close to the home she loved.
As we prepare to say our goodbyes, we encourage all who knew Clara to join us in celebrating her life and the incredible legacy she leaves behind. Condolences can be shared at www.caneyvillefh.com.
Rest in peace, Clara. Your love will always be the light guiding us home.
