Bill Boone, a beloved figure in the Pine Knob community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on October 3, 1935, in Pine Knob, Bill was the cherished son of the late Hollis and Hazel Young Boone.
A proud graduate of Caneyville High School, Bill devoted many years to his career as a Regional Sales Manager for Norfolk & Southern Railway. His heart was as big as his dedication to faith and family. A longstanding member of New Harvest Baptist Church, he was known for his kind spirit, serving as a Caretaker for New Hope Cemetery and a proud Gideon. His commitment extended beyond his church community, as he also made a difference by serving on the Foster Care Review Board. After retirement, Bill and his loving wife of 70 years, Jo Anna, returned to Pine Knob, which held a special place in their hearts.
In his leisure time, Bill found joy in the simple pleasures of life-whether it be fishing, golfing, windsailing, or camping, he embraced every moment with enthusiasm. Bill's greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter through his two children, Ron Boone and Renee Mazzone (Pete), five grandchildren, Bryan Mazzone (Lynette), Kristina Morgan (Chris), Lacey Carroll (Gary), Sarah Gonzalez (Hector), and Brett Boone; and eight great-grandchildren, Lila Morgan, Grace Morgan, Emma Morgan, Ellianna Mazzone, Jackson Mazzone, Alexa Gonzalez, Madison Carroll and Nora Carroll.
Bill is also survived by his two sisters, Mary Nell Jackson (Mike) and Janet Laswell, as well as several nieces and nephews who will hold his memory close.
Visitation will be held at Caneyville Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, January 16, 2026, and again from 10:00 AM until the service on Saturday. His celebration of life will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2026, also at the funeral home. Following the service, Bill will be laid to rest at New Hope Cemetery.
In his passing, Bill Boone leaves behind a legacy filled with love, kindness, and cherished memories. Friends and family are invited to gather and share in the stories that made his life so remarkable. Condolences may be left at www.caneyvillefh.com.
