Barbara Sue Young

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Sue Decker Young, affectionately known as Sue, who left us on March 20, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on March 6, 1949, in Olaton, Kentucky, Sue was the beloved daughter of the late Stanley and Jessie Patterson Decker.

Sue dedicated many years of her life as a kind-hearted host at McDonald's in Leitchfield, bringing smiles and warmth to everyone who walked through the door. In her downtime, she had a passion for watching wrestling and loved to unwind with her favorite episodes of Walker, Texas Ranger. Above all, Sue cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren, filling her life with their laughter and joy.

She leaves behind her loving children, Jessie Hayes (Ernest Hudspeth) and Jackie Young (Melissa), along with eleven adoring grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Herbie Decker, and her sister, Beatrice.

Sadly, Sue has joined her two children, Bennie Young and Rebecca White, as well as her great-grandson, Xavier Hayes, in eternal rest, alongside six siblings who had previously passed. 

To honor Sue's life and the love she shared, funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Caneyville Funeral Home, with Bro. Charlie Lacefield officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation starting at 11:00 AM until the service begins. Sue will be laid to rest in Yeaman Cemetery, where her spirit can be embraced by the serenity of nature.
